The InBody body composition scanner at Vital Health and Wellness

InBody Body Composition Analysis

A one-minute scan that shows you what the scale never could — muscle, fat, and water, measured and tracked over time.

No Program Required

Book a Scan On Its Own

The InBody scan has been part of our medical weight management program since day one — but you don't have to be in the program to get one. You can book a scan as a standalone appointment, walk out with your results, and use them however you like.

The scan takes about a minute. You stand on the device, hold the two handles, and it separates your body weight into muscle, fat, and water. No needles, no changing clothes, nothing invasive. What you get back is a printed sheet that shows exactly where your weight is coming from — and, when you come back for another scan, exactly what has changed.

That distinction matters more than most people realize. Losing five pounds of fat and losing five pounds of muscle look identical on a bathroom scale. They are not remotely the same thing.

What the Scan Measures

Our InBody 380 prints a full breakdown, and a provider walks you through what each number means for you.

Skeletal Muscle Mass

How much of your weight is muscle — the number that tells you whether your training and protein intake are actually working.

Body Fat Mass & Percentage

Fat measured in pounds and as a percentage of your total weight, so progress shows up even on weeks the scale doesn't move.

Total Body Water

Your hydration status, broken into the water held inside and outside your cells — a useful signal for inflammation and recovery.

Segmental Lean Analysis

Lean mass measured limb by limb and through the trunk, which surfaces imbalances between your left and right side.

Visceral Fat Level

The fat stored around your organs — the type most closely tied to metabolic health, and invisible from the outside.

Basal Metabolic Rate

The calories your body burns at rest, which gives your nutrition plan a real starting point instead of a generic estimate.

Who It's For

More Than a Weight Loss Tool

Anyone Losing Weight

Whether you're working with us or on your own, a scan every few weeks tells you whether the weight coming off is fat or muscle — and lets you adjust before you lose ground you didn't mean to lose.

Confirm fat loss, not muscle loss
Catch plateaus early
Objective progress between visits

Athletes & Strength Training

If you're lifting, training for something, or trying to add lean mass, the scale is a poor scoreboard. Segmental analysis shows where muscle is being built and whether one side is carrying more than the other.

Track lean mass gains by limb
Spot left-to-right imbalances
Time your nutrition to your training

Recovery & Life Changes

Post-partum, post-injury, after a hospital stay, or moving through perimenopause — body composition shifts during these stretches in ways weight alone won't show. A baseline scan gives you something concrete to measure against.

Establish a clear baseline
Monitor hydration and inflammation
See change the scale hides

What to Expect

1

Before Your Scan

Wear light clothing and plan to remove shoes and socks. Skip a heavy meal and hard exercise in the hours beforehand, and use the restroom before you're scanned. Keeping these habits consistent between visits is what makes your scans comparable.

2

During the Scan

You'll stand on the device and hold two handles while it takes its measurements. It's completely non-invasive and takes roughly a minute — no needles, no changing clothes, nothing uncomfortable.

3

After Your Scan

You'll get a printed results sheet, and a member of our team will sit down and walk you through what each number means. If you're tracking over time, we'll compare it against your last scan and talk through what changed.

The scan works by passing a very low, imperceptible electrical current through the body. It is not recommended for anyone with a pacemaker, defibrillator, or other implanted electronic medical device. If you are pregnant, let us know before your appointment so we can talk through whether the scan is right for you.
